| The Alaska String Band Camp |

| GENERAL INFORMATION |

| Welcome |
|
|
| The 2009 Alaska String Band Camp is a six week intensive for development of skills on the fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass, and vocals for students ages eight and above. Each student will be matched up with other attendees and instructors to form a band. Each band will learn and rehearse three songs culminating in a final celebration performance. Music genre explored may include any of the following: bluegrass, swing, Celtic, blues, old time and gospel. |

| Registration |
| A completed registration packet including a registration form, medical form, practice agreement, and other terms of agreement form is due by the first day of camp. The packet can
be downloaded here. Camp tuition ($300) is also due with the registration packet. |

| Location |
| Camp will be held in the Zahasky home at 9785 Nine Mile Creek Road on North Douglas Highway. |

| Schedule |
| • Camp will be conducted each Saturday from 3pm until 5:30pm. |
| • Additional rehearsals will be held on Wednesday March 18 and 25 from 6pm to 8pm. |
| • Final concert open to the public to be held on March 28 at 7pm. Location TBA. |
| • Private lessons are available throughout the week for those students wishing for additional one on one time. |

| Beginning Instrumentalists |
| Students wishing to attend who are beginners with little or no previous experience on their instrument are welcome. We do require these students to sign up for one additional private lesson per week of camp, in order to insure they are successful at mastering the instrument of their choice at an elementary level. Private lessons are available for beginners at a cut rate of $20 per half hour. |

| Faculty |
| The Zahasky family is a long time musical fixture in Juneau and also a nationally touring concert group. Parents, Paul and Melissa Zahasky, each possess over twenty-five years of teaching experience with children and adults. Laura is an accomplished instrumentalist on the guitar, violin/fiddle and mandolin. She also has two years experience as a private teacher. Quinn contributes a solid hand at the upright bass. Abigail will be a willing and enthusiastic participant and volunteer at this year's camp. |
